Connecting ChatGPT or Claude to your Swiss accounting: the guide

By Michael Dusong · Updated 31.10.2026

You already work with ChatGPT or Claude. The question is no longer whether an AI assistant can help with accounting, but how to connect it without losing control: to which data, with which permissions, and who approves. This guide compares the options, explains the MCP protocol, walks you step by step through connecting Claude to BeMyTalent, and says where ChatGPT stands today.

Three ways to give an assistant your figures

WayHowWhat gets in the way
Copy-paste or exportYou paste an extract, or attach an Excel or PDF exportFigures frozen at the time of the export; no control over what leaves; nothing flows back into the accounting
API keyYou create a key and hand it to an agent or a scriptPowerful for a technical agent; the key is a secret you must protect; the assistant has to know how to call an API
MCP connectorThe assistant connects with your account; you choose the projects and permissionsDepends on the assistant: open today for Claude, not yet for ChatGPT

MCP in two minutes

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard, launched by Anthropic in late 2024 and since adopted by other vendors, including OpenAI. It defines how an AI assistant calls a piece of software's tools during a conversation: “read the balance sheet”, “list the entries of an account”, “prepare an entry”… The software decides which tools it exposes; you decide which ones the assistant may use.

With a well-built connector, you copy no key: you sign in with your own account (the OAuth protocol), much like “Sign in with Google”, and the assistant receives access that is limited in time. It never learns your password.

What an accounting connector must guarantee

Whatever the software, seven points to check before connecting an assistant:

  1. Your account, not a shared secret: an OAuth sign-in, with no key to copy and no password handed to the assistant.
  2. Permissions you choose: per project, and per domain (read the accounting, read the CRM, prepare entries…).
  3. Reading is not writing: an accounting entry prepared by the assistant stays a draft.
  4. Nothing irreversible without you: the assistant approves, posts, pays and sends nothing.
  5. Limits and a log: a capped number of calls, and every call recorded.
  6. Simple revocation, and an alert at every new connection.
  7. Transparency about data: what the assistant reads is sent to its provider. You need to know that before choosing your projects.

Connecting Claude to BeMyTalent, step by step

BeMyTalent's MCP connector is open to all Claude users: on the web, in the desktop app and in Cowork; on mobile, once it has been added from the web or the desktop app.

Before you start: a BeMyTalent account that can view the accounting of at least one project, and AI assistants turned on for that project by its owner (Settings → Agents & API keys → My existing connections → AI assistants on this project).

  1. In Claude, open Customize → Connectors and add a custom connector.
  2. Name it BeMyTalent and enter the MCP server address: https://mcp.bemytalent.com/mcp. No client ID or secret is asked for.
  3. Click Connect: a BeMyTalent page opens. Sign in with your account, and enter your code if two-factor authentication is on.
  4. Choose your projects (up to 25) and, for each one, what the assistant may do, then click Allow.
  5. In a conversation, open the “+” menu → Connectors and turn on BeMyTalent.

With Claude Team or Enterprise, only an organization Owner adds the connector; each member then signs in with their own BeMyTalent account, within the limits of their role. Permissions, the list of tools, limits and revocation are detailed on the MCP connector page.

What you can ask

A few typical requests, once the connector is active:

  • “What is the project's result at 30 September, and how does it compare with the previous financial year?”
  • “Show me the general ledger of the telephone expenses account for the quarter.”
  • “What were the bank transactions in October?”
  • “Which VAT setup issues should I fix before the VAT return?”
  • “Prepare the entry for this supplier invoice” — it arrives as a draft, to be approved in BeMyTalent.
  • “Update this customer's record and add a follow-up task for Friday.”

What the assistant can do, and what it will never do

  • Read: the accounting (chart of accounts, entries, general ledger, trial balance, balance sheet, income statement, bank transactions, VAT configuration, accounting checks), invoices and quotes, the CRM.
  • Prepare: draft entries, which a person reviews and approves in BeMyTalent.
  • Edit the CRM, if you grant it: creations and changes are saved immediately, without approval, and the assistant can delete nothing.
  • Prepare emails and quotes: opened project by project, on request via support.
  • Never: approve or post an entry, pay, send an email or a quote. Those steps stay yours, in BeMyTalent.

The connector gives no access to the payroll module (payslips, contracts, AHV numbers), to CRM messages, or to your password. Salary journal entries, however, are part of the accounting it reads.

And what about ChatGPT?

Not yet. ChatGPT will connect through BeMyTalent's official listing in the OpenAI directory, which is being prepared. Until then, adding the server address to ChatGPT by hand does not work.

For a technical agent — a coding agent, a script, an automation able to call an HTTPS API — there is another route: the agent key. The project owner or an administrator creates it in Settings → Agents & API keys, with permissions per domain; it expires after 90 days, can be deleted in one click, and every call is logged. With a key, the agent never approves an entry, never issues or sends an invoice and sends no message. The details are on the Agent Access page.

Your data: what you need to know

  • Your data stays stored in BeMyTalent, in Zurich, and every tool call is logged there.
  • What the assistant reads is sent to its provider — for Claude, Anthropic, often in the United States — and handled under its terms. Choose your projects and permissions accordingly.
  • BeMyTalent never uses this data to train AI models.
  • An email warns you at every new connection. You revoke access in BeMyTalent (Settings → Agents & API keys → My existing connections → Connected assistants); revoking does not erase what the assistant has already received.

Another option, with no external assistant: BeMyTalent's built-in Assistant runs on Qwen, hosted by Infomaniak. It reads your figures and suggests; nothing is created without your click. According to Infomaniak, conversations are neither stored nor used to train the model.

And your fiduciary?

A connected assistant answers and prepares; it replaces neither your own judgement nor the expertise of your fiduciary (Swiss accounting firm). BeMyTalent does not replace your fiduciary: it takes the data entry off their hands. A well-connected assistant goes the same way — your fiduciary reviews drafts that are already prepared, on an up-to-date file, and can connect their own assistant to the projects they follow.

FAQ

Can I connect ChatGPT to my BeMyTalent accounting?

Not yet through MCP: BeMyTalent's official listing in the OpenAI directory is being prepared, and adding the server address by hand is not supported. Claude connects today.

Is it safe to connect an AI assistant to your accounting?

With a well-designed MCP connector, you sign in with your own account, you choose the projects and permissions, and the assistant approves, pays and sends nothing. The point to remember: what the assistant reads is sent to its provider, under its terms.

Can the assistant approve entries?

No. It can propose draft entries; a person reviews and approves them in BeMyTalent.

Where does my data go?

It stays stored in BeMyTalent, in Zurich. The answers the assistant receives are sent to its provider (for Claude, Anthropic, often in the United States).

How do I cut off access?

In BeMyTalent: Settings → Agents & API keys → My existing connections → Connected assistants → Revoke. The owner of a project can also turn off AI assistants on that project: the project is then removed from every connection at once.

Your accounting almost runs itself.
