The 2026 comparison of Swiss accounting software
By Michael Dusong · Updated 11.08.2026
This comparison is published by the maker of BeMyTalent. So that it's still useful to you, three rules: all prices come from official websites with the date they were accessed (10.08.2026, excl. VAT unless stated), every tool gets a line saying who it's the right choice for, and our own limits are spelled out in black and white. A comparison where the author wins on every line is worth nothing.

Tool by tool
Bexio — the installed standard
The most widespread in Switzerland (owned by la Mobilière, ~80,000 customers claimed). New plans since 01.03.2026: Basic CHF 35, Advanced CHF 42, Optima CHF 69, Ultimate CHF 119/month — with an increase of around 20% at the entry level. The strength: the ecosystem (fiduciaries, integrations). The weakness: modular pricing — payroll and payments as add-ons, the real price quickly exceeds the advertised one. The right choice for: SMEs that want the tool their fiduciary (Swiss accounting firm) already knows, or 25+ employees on the Ultimate plan. Our detailed head-to-head: BMT vs Bexio.
Banana — the minimalist
CHF 89/year (Professional) or CHF 179/year (Advanced). Unbeatable on price for keeping simple or association books, with a spreadsheet-like logic. No payroll, no real cloud, mostly manual entry. The right choice for: associations, micro-businesses without employees, volunteer treasurers.
WinBIZ Cloud — the unified ERP from French-speaking Switzerland
Since its pricing overhaul: CHF 74 excl. VAT/month per user, everything included — accounting, invoicing, unlimited payroll, inventory, POS. Complete and solid. The cost climbs with the number of concurrent users, and it remains a classic ERP: it records well, it doesn't automate the preparation. The right choice for: multi-trade SMEs in French-speaking Switzerland (inventory, POS) with one main user.
Crésus — the payroll benchmark of French-speaking Switzerland
A flexible model: licence purchase (Accounting CHF 600, Payroll CHF 450) or per-module rental (~CHF 15–20/month). The Payroll module is renowned and proven. But it's desktop software, in separate modules, single-user for writes — a pre-cloud logic. The right choice for: fiduciaries and freelancers in French-speaking Switzerland who value owning their licence.
Klara — the Swiss Post ecosystem
Business packs from CHF 55 to CHF 127/month (annual commitment), payroll billed per payslip (CHF 3.90–4.90). Worth noting: the free accounting that made Klara famous no longer exists — only invoicing remains free (official website, accessed 10.08.2026). The right choice for: freelancers who use Swiss Post services (postal delivery of invoices).
Abacus / Swiss21 — the gateway to the ERP
Swiss21/AbaNinja: free to start (1 user, 1 payslip, limited volumes), then CHF 21 and CHF 49/month. Beyond that, you move up to the Abacus ERP through a fiduciary (prices not public). Well designed for starting small in an ecosystem that can grow — at the cost of volume limits and dependence on the fiduciary channel. The right choice for: zero-budget startups anticipating growth towards a full ERP.
BeMyTalent — the accounting that prepares itself
BMT (Ekylibr SA, hosted in Switzerland, nFADP-compliant) tackles the problem from the other end: instead of a tool where you do the entry, a tool that prepares — invoices read automatically, payments reconciled, VAT return ready to file, payroll from AHV to the salary certificate (Lohnausweis), supplier payments as pain.001 files (validated by SIX). You check, you approve. One subscription, everything in it, from CHF 29/month — including inventory, Shopify, CRM, quotes, mandates and Agent Access, the AI agent that prepares but never approves. And a rare feature on the Swiss market: Planned vs Actual, your figures continuously compared to your forecast.
Our limits, plainly: BMT is young. It runs in production first on the founder's own companies (real year-end closing, VAT, payroll and payments), Bexio history is imported to the cent across 8 fiscal years — but we have neither ten years of track record nor tens of thousands of customers. That's why the trial is one month, free, no card, and your data remains exportable at any time. The right choice for: small businesses that want to stop keying in data, with payroll and payments included in a fixed price. Pricing · Migration from Bexio · All Bexio alternatives.
Three questions to choose in 10 minutes
- Who does the data entry? If the answer is “me, in the evening” — look for automation of the preparation, not prettier reports. Our guide: choosing Swiss accounting software.
- How much for MY headcount, payroll included? Redo the maths with each tool's payroll module — the ranking often changes. See: Swiss payroll software.
- Can you leave? Demand reversibility (full export) before you commit.

FAQ
What is the best Swiss accounting software in 2026?
There is no absolute “best”: Banana wins on minimal price, Bexio on ecosystem, WinBIZ on ERP breadth, Crésus on desktop payroll, BMT on automating the preparation with payroll and payments included from CHF 29/month. The right choice depends on who does the data entry and on your headcount.
Which software includes payroll at no extra cost?
WinBIZ Cloud (within its CHF 74/month per user) and BeMyTalent (in all its plans, from CHF 29/month). At Bexio, Klara and Swiss21, payroll is billed on top (add-on, per payslip, or per tier).
Are the prices in this comparison up to date?
They were taken from the official websites on 10.08.2026 (excl. VAT unless stated) and the page shows its last-updated date. Prices change — Bexio, for instance, overhauled its plans on 01.03.2026.
Is there free Swiss accounting software?
Swiss21/AbaNinja offers a limited free plan (1 user, capped volumes) and Banana a free version up to ~70 entries. For a real business with employees, a paid plan quickly becomes necessary — then compare the full price, payroll included.
Why trust a comparison written by a vendor?
Don't take our word for it: every price is dated and verifiable on the relevant vendor's website, every tool gets a recommended use case, and our limits are written down. Then test — the BMT trial is free for one month, no card.
